
The event was held under the slogan “The Quran: Light and Guidance for the Ummah”.
The ceremony was attended by Osama Al-Azhari, the Egyptian minister of Awqaf, along with Nader Zaki, Egypt’s ambassador to the Philippines. Also present were Sabuddin Abdul Rahim, the head of the National Muslim Committee of the Philippines, and a number of executive and religious officials and diplomatic representatives.
In his speech, Al-Azhari expressed his happiness at attending the Quranic competition and emphasized that such events are the foundation for promoting the values of moderation and the principles of guidance and mercy of the Quran.
He also emphasized the importance of cultural and religious ties between nations.
Al-Azhari called on all Filipinos, whether Muslim or Christian, to contribute to the progress and preservation of this great country through unity, love, peace, cooperation, and respect for differences.
He stated that the Holy Quran calls for building the world and humanity, and its noble values strengthen the foundations of work, production and reform. He noted that the message of all religions is to promote goodness, peace and stability in societies.
The Egyptian Awqaf minister stressed the importance of national unity as the foundation for building and preserving the country, and said coexistence between citizens of a country, regardless of their beliefs, is the true path to progress.
He emphasized common values, including mercy, love and respect for human dignity.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Al-Azhari praised the efforts of Sabuddin Abdul Rahim, in serving Muslim issues, promoting the values of coexistence and mutual understanding in society, and building bridges of cooperation with a sincere nationalist spirit.

He also praised the choice of the competition’s slogan in different years, especially last year’s slogan, “The Quran, the Path to Reconciliation and Peace” and this year’s slogan, “The Quran: Light and Guidance for the Ummah.”

At the end of the ceremony, the head of the National Muslim Committee of the Philippines presented a commemorative gift to the Egyptian Awqaf minister, which was a symbol of the national identity and cultural heritage of the Philippines.
A total of 35 finalists competed in the concluding rounds, including 17 female and 18 male contestants, representing various regions across the Philippines.
